2021-22
Creative Writing Contest

We are pleased to announce the 2021-22 Creative Writing Contest, organised by the Centre for Language in Education (CLE)!
Would you like to show your creative minds and share about yourself through English writing?
The contest is open to all students of the University. If you enjoy writing and would love your work to be published, then this may be the chance to achieve your goal! No matter how much (or how little!) writing experience you have, take this chance to try something new by sharing your writing with us.

The contest opens on  February 7, 2022 and closes on  March 12, 2022 by 23:59.
Here is what you need to know:
Theme
This year's writing theme is:  Beginnings and Endings.
Deadline
Submissions are due no later than March 12, 2022
at 23:59

Eligibility
All EdUHK students are eligible. All entries must be original work and submitted with a completed Plagiarism Declaration Form.
Format
•Please send your work to Hala Kassem at hakassem@eduhk.hk.
Judging rubric
All submissions will be graded based on this rubric HERE. You may consider using this rubric as a guide when writing your work and checking it again before you submit your work. but this rubric is not exclusive and could only serve as a reference.
Literary Style
Your entry can be in any format (e.g. poem, prose, short story, autobiography, fiction or non-fiction).Your piece of writing should be 500 to 700 words max. If writing a poem, your entry should have a minimum of 12 lines. You also have to submit a picture of your choice that relates or expresses the spirit of your piece. 
Once the entries are received, they will be reviewed as follows:

- Votes from other students (1 like = 1 vote) (Will account for 40% of the final decision) 

- Judges panel assessment (Judging is based on caliber of content, clarity of thought, - Creativity, originality and style of writing) (Will account for 60% of the final decision). 

Timeline of Important Events (2021-2022)
February 7 – Contest opens 
March 12 – Submission deadline (by 23:59) 
March 31 – Winners will be announced & Entries will be posted on social media
Early May – Awards and Sharing Ceremony
Awards and Sharing
Prizes will be awarded, and all winning submissions will be published on our social media and IT Magazine. Also, the winning submissions may be included in an audiobook. The Awards and Sharing Ceremony will take place in early May 2022, where the winners are invited to share and discuss their work!
